Empowering Kids in Uganda

Empowering Kids in Uganda (EKU) empowers and supports children that were born into captivity with the Lord’s Resistance Army. These children returned to Uganda without their parents and face numerous health, psychosocial and academic challenges because of the circumstances surrounding their early years.

EKU reunites children with extended family members and then works closely with the family to develop individual action plans for the children. The program is built on the principles of attachment theory, and emphasis is placed on reinforcing the family structure, and ensuring the family remains the primary caretaker of the child.
